Everything I can see calls for a great weekend for anything you might want to do outdoors. I don't see how you can miss on Saturday and Sunday, and probably the rest of the upcoming week. That said, next week looks to be hot. But hey - it's summer, right? Get out there...
I posted the following on the FB page, but in case you missed it:
There is a very interesting interview with Joe Lentini about a new short film 109 Below that looks very interesting. In it he talks about the Albert Dow tragedy and more. I hope it becomes available to see soon.
There have been a number of things written about it, but sadly photographer, guidebook author and climbing icon Stewart M Green passed last Thursday from a heart attack at his home. A huge loss to the outdoor community. The following article in the Denver Gazette pretty well sums up his life and legacy:
Selected Ice Conditions effective November 27, 2025
There is minimal snow up in Crawford Notch. The pictures below are from Wednesday. While I drove through the notch today, I didn't bring a camera. However there is substantially less ice up there than there was yesterday. Mid day Wednesday it was 46 degrees at the Dry River Campground and 41 at the Highland Center. It rained a bit overnight as well. Today it was 40 at the Center! I have seen some great pictures of Pinnacle Gully from earlier in the week, but none from yesterday or today. That said, things will most certainly get better as the weekend goes on.

BEARS:
A quick note about bears... Several people I know have had encounters with black bears recently. In one case a momma bear entered a house twice over a couple of days. In another the same bear trapped a man in his garage until the police and F&G arrived. Several friends have had bears on their decks this week! They are out and about and they are hungry. Don't leave food stuffs around where they can get at them. Close your solid house doors, screen doors do nothing! Thoroughly clean your grill after use. Take in the bird feeders until later in the summer. And of course NEVER feed the bears. For the most part, a fed bear is a dead bear!
Just sayin...
INSTANT BUG REPORT - 4:
No better right now!
MUSICAL NOTES:
I'm with the Jim McLaughlin Group at Ledge Brewing on Thursday and again on Saturday at Big Day Brewing. Most of the band gigs this summer are early and outside which is really great. I promise that the music is great, please come out...
VALLEY CYCLING:
We are very good to go now pretty much everywhere. The downhill in the Hurricane Zone is kicking, cross country trails on east and west sides are good and Cranmore opens Wednesday - Sunday starting the week after Fathers day. Get out and ride!
Mobile Version Of NEClimbs:
Up on one of the Mount Washington Valley's finest crags and want to know what that climb you're looking at is? Or maybe you're on your way up from Boston and want to check out the Ice Report for your upcoming weekend plans. Or more likely, you're at work just want to daydream about your next adventure. Well if you have a smart phone handy, you can get to NEClimbs from anywhere you have cell service. While it doesn't offer every single feature of the site and it's not an "app", in mobile form, it does do a whole lot and is very useful. Here is the live link to the mobile version of NEClimbs:
Check it out and if you have issues on your specific phone, please feel free to let me know.

Climbing is a very dangerous sport. You can get hurt or even kill yourself. When you go climbing, you do so of your own free will. Everything on this site is to be taken with a grain of salt. Don't blame us if you get up some totally heinous route, in over your head and fall and hurt yourself.
