Hi Folks,
Welp, here we are, 1/3rd of the way through the summer season. It feels so amazing to me that we are already on July 4th. My how fast the time flies...That said, I wish you all a great July 4th week. Savor the time with family and friends and get out and enjoy what portends to be a good weekend. All my best wishes to you all, AND best hopes and prayers for our country.
Registration opens July 11, 2024. This 3-day grassroots climbing festival brings climbers from all over New England to Rumney, one of the oldest premiere sport climbing destinations in the United States.
Explore the unique schist holds of Rumney’s punchy climbs, help raise money for the AAC and the Rumney Climber’s Association, and enjoy the prime sending temps. This 3-day event will also include clinics led by pro climbers and guides, an expanded artisan market and vendor village, stewardship opportunities, a silent auction to score deals on gear, live music, local food trucks, and FREE BEER. We also offer a family-friendly clinic, adaptive clinic, and affinity group meet-up—join us and carve out your space. The Craggin’ at Rumney always has a lot of heart, but the soul of this event is climbers like you! Grab your climbing shoes and join us!

Please be aware that Cold River Campground is closed to all use until July 31 for public safety and to protect nesting wildlife. Located near Fryeburg, Maine, Basin, and Hastings Campgrounds are alternative options for camping in the Evans Notch area at this time.
Coffee at the Crag! Starting July 6th, we're going to be setting up shop at the picnic tables at the base of Cathedral Ledge to give out free coffee to climbers, hang out, and talk all things climbing and the Coop. All are Welcome to hang out and chat. We'll be posted up all Summer long on Saturdays, so we hope to see you soon!
The black flys and mosquitoes certainly are BAD, but those little no-see-ums are TRULY BRUTAL!!!! Most especially at dawn and dusk...
I'll be at Big Day Brewing in Gorham on Saturday 6-9 rain or shine. Then with the Rob Ames Jazz Quintet outdoors on the boardwalk at Weirs Beach on Sunday 6-9, weather permitting.
Come on out to support local trails, advocacy and community at our annual MTB Community gathering on July 14th hosted by Cranmore Mountain Resort. The day will be a full one, beginning in the morning at 9 AM with some work on the Ultimate Singletrack where it is being relocated from private property onto USFS land. The rest of the UST needs a good trimming too. We will meet in the Cranmore parking by the Rec Path entrance for group rides at 2 pm. Cranmore is offering a discounted lift access ticket if you want some gravity laps. After riding we’ll have a social gathering at 5 pm on the deck. Cranmore is providing pizza as well as a Tuckerman Brewing draft special. Invite some friends and join us!
The jungle is encroaching! With the canopy opened up from the moth invasion and some logging, the understory is going nuts! Take a day if you can on your favorite trail and trim it up, the forest is very good at reclaiming its territory!
Our signage project is moving ahead, big thanks to Joanne Archembault who has been assisting in a big way, also thank you to Scott Sirota for rehabbing the Hemlock kiosk. We had hoped to have signage in place sooner, however requests from the USFS, MWVTA and the USVLT to share our maps required edits to suit all parties. At this time, I believe that we are ready to print maps and signs! What started as a minor update for trails bisected by the Rec Path became a community project that we are proud to have been involved with. We will need volunteers to help place signs once printed, thank you in advance.
