Hi Folks,
If you read the Obs weather report today you will see that there is and has been a lot of smoke/haze in the Valley coming from the ongoing Canadian wildfires. When I went out on the porch for my morning coffee yesterday you could see the haze spreading in. By the time I went out to the gym around 1pm it was really bad. I couldn't really smell it like I could at the peak last year, it was bad enough that I couldn't see Mt Washington at all from town! In the almost 28 years I've lived in the Valley, I've never seen it like this except when we had a fire up in the Moats, maybe 20 years ago! While at the gym a couple who are acquaintances came in who looked a little "scruffy". I asked where they had been and they said that they had hiked The Imp that morning. She said that the haze was worse in the higher elevations! SHEESH
I had planned on climbing at Mt Forist this morning and was really looking forward to getting out. Unfortunately I got a call from the folks who will be doing some work inside the house next week, saying the main person needed to swing by to check some measurements. Turns out it was not a bad thing since at 11:30ish it got dark and a thunderstorm started rolling through! tho it only lasted about 45 minutes, I would have hated to be in the cliff when it unleashed. I truly doubt we could have gotten very far, based on the intensity. SHEESH This has really been one of those summers.
I was poking through some pictures the other day and came across the one interesting linked below showing 3 generations of bolts. I know where it came from, but do you? FWIW the middle one is no longer there either!

Q - Has anyone been out to Found Ledge recently? I was hoping to take some friends out there soon and was wondering if it's even moderately clean and dry. Needless to say bringing a wire brush is usually a good idea, but I was just curious. It's a great place to go that doesn't require bring anything other than some draws and a single 60 meter rope if you're just going to climb on the Little Slab. Thanks...
A little less, believe it or not. Unless of course you're way out in the deep woods! And in that case DEET is your friend!

I'll be doing a concert in the gazebo at Cate Park in Wolfeboro on Friday 8/16 from 6-9 with my own 5 piece band. We will be playing originals and tunes you know, but you won't recognize many of them. [wry grin] Then on Saturday I will be at Big Day Brewing up in Gorham from 6-9, jamming on the patio with an assortment of musical friends. Finally on Sunday I will be with the Rob Ames Jazz Quintet outside on the boardwalk at Weirs Beach from 6-9.

Great riding can be found on the east side, west side and all around the town right now. Don't miss it...
