March 6, 2025

Hi Folks,

DAMN, two daze of warm temps, with Thursday into the upper-middle 40's, plus a solid 24 hours of rain! This sure is an unexpectedly early spring warmup. There are warnings about rivers and streams overflowing and ice jams that we don't usually get 'till the end of March. But here we are... And besides the hit to the climbing ice, this has made a mess of my garage. The amount of rain, coupled with the ground being frozen, allowed the runoff to seep into the garage. Not sure it will dry up before the real spring. DOUBLE DAMN!
Ice Conditions Report:
Selected Ice Conditions effective January 28, 2026
Overall there is a LOT of ice out there right now. From everything I hear, the better conditions are in the sun where the ice can get plastic. Stuff in the. Shade is hard, brittle, and it's not getting refreshed like we all would like.

MUSICAL NOTES:
I'll be at Big Day Brewing in Gorham on this Friday, March 6th, with Jim McLaughlin. Great beers, food and KILLER jamz!

If you're interested you can always see my schedule here:

VALLEY CYCLING:
There were several days of really nice riding before the rain. It's unclear what's gong to happen now. Most certainly there we=ill be at least several days of no riding. But if it gets cold and things set up we should be OK. I will be very bummed if this is the end of the snow riding, so stay tuned...

Mobile Version Of NEClimbs:
Up on one of the Mount Washington Valley's finest crags and want to know what that climb you're looking at is? Or maybe you're on your way up from Boston and want to check out the Ice Report for your upcoming weekend plans. Or more likely, you're at work just want to daydream about your next adventure. Well if you have a smart phone handy, you can get to NEClimbs from anywhere you have cell service. While it doesn't offer every single feature of the site and it's not an "app", in mobile form, it does do a whole lot and is very useful. Here is the live link to the mobile version of NEClimbs:

Check it out and if you have issues on your specific phone, please feel free to let me know.
