Like reading the White Mountain Report every week? Why not get it delivered to your e-mailbox every Thursday? All you have
to do is subscribe. It's fast, painless, and best of all it doesn't cost you
a dime!
The main reason I live up here is because each season brings its own unique things to do. Ice Season 2022/23 is done and it's time to break out the rock gear, bikes and maybe even the white water kayaks. Of course there have been times when the ice in lower elevations has hung on longer, but it's somewhat rare. But here's a picture George took of me on Dracula on April 5, 2001. Go figure...
As I've mentioned before, there is still stuff hanging out over the top of many of the popular early season rock warm-ups, and likely will be until we get some significant rain, perhaps next week! Here's what is on the Unicorn Ledge on Wednesday, just above the North End crack climbs and a few pic of Whitehorse:
DONATIONS::
Thanks to all of you who have donated to NEClimbs & the 2023 White Mountain Report Fundraiser. There are lots of ways to get ice conditions info these days, but after doing this for 22 years I'd like to think I have something unique to offer. If you haven't donated, I would appreciate your support.
You can contribute via check or money order if you like. Make it out to NEClimbs and send it here:

Ice Conditions Report:
Selected Ice Conditions effective November 27, 2025
There is minimal snow up in Crawford Notch. The pictures below are from Wednesday. While I drove through the notch today, I didn't bring a camera. However there is substantially less ice up there than there was yesterday. Mid day Wednesday it was 46 degrees at the Dry River Campground and 41 at the Highland Center. It rained a bit overnight as well. Today it was 40 at the Center! I have seen some great pictures of Pinnacle Gully from earlier in the week, but none from yesterday or today. That said, things will most certainly get better as the weekend goes on.

VALLEY CYCLING:
Upper areas with southern exposure (Swamp, Sidehill, Rattlesnake) are starting to dry out and be rideable. That said, if it's muddy, please hold off riding that particular trail. Lower areas in the shade still have packed snow. Sawyer RR still is snowy, but Bear Notch is a mix. Th Sawyer RR pix are from last Sunday.
Come out next Wednesday and support your friendly local Trail Groomers. They all do amazing work year-round keeping our trails in great shape. Good music and BEER! A great band I play with is going to be there and I hope you can make it...
Mobile Version Of NEClimbs:
Up on one of the Mount Washington Valley's finest crags and want to know what that climb you're looking at is? Or maybe you're on your way up from Boston and want to check out the Ice Report for your upcoming weekend plans. Or more likely, you're at work just want to daydream about your next adventure. Well if you have a smart phone handy, you can get to NEClimbs from anywhere you have cell service. While it doesn't offer every single feature of the site and it's not an "app", in mobile form, it does do a whole lot and is very useful. Here is the live link to the mobile version of NEClimbs:
Check it out and if you have issues on your specific phone, please feel free to let me know.

Climbing is a very dangerous sport. You can get hurt or even kill yourself. When you go climbing, you do so of your own free will. Everything on this site is to be taken with a grain of salt. Don't blame us if you get up some totally heinous route, in over your head and fall and hurt yourself.
